At Sheridan we want the next generation to experience Beautiful Australian Living and be able to ‘sleep well and live well’.
Through our social and environmental initiatives, we hope to make that a reality.
Our 2020 Goals
Sheridan is a member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO). We work with them to continue to improve our packaging sustainability and to reduce the impact of packaging on the Australian environment.
We’re starting to change the packaging on our products from PVC to LDPE as it is better for the environment and can be recycled. The first PVC to LDPE change is on our Sheridan Outlet pillows. We have also changed the packaging on our Ryan Towel twin packs from PVC to cardboard.
We’re reducing our cardboard usage. The first reduction is our Ryan Towels in Sheridan Outlet, where we have removed the large tag and replaced it with a smaller, tear-off tag. We have also significantly reduced our cardboard packaging on our Lanham silk pillowcases and changed our Jacey Baby Gift Set from a cardboard gift box to a fabric bag.
We’re committed to making sure our products do not contain harmful substances, which is why for many years we’ve been taking steps to improve our processes. In 2015, we created our own Restricted Substances List which covers more than 770 substances including the European list of Substances of Very High Concern.
A collection to feel good about.
We source the highest quality materials and adhere to strict manufacturing processes to ensure a premium, organic product. The first of a growing collection, our Organic Cotton Sheet Set is crafted with 100% certified organic cotton in a soft 400 thread count. This sheet set is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified and comes packaged in a reusable organic cotton bag.

As part of our plan to close the loop, we reuse existing materials to create new products, lengthening the life of fabrics.
Our Cancun Beach Towel is woven in Portugal using left over ends of cotton yarn that would otherwise be sent to landfill. Upcycling 100% cotton yarns in this way means no towel is ever the same, offering a one-of-a-kind piece.
Since 2000 we have been repurposing any off cuts from fabrics to create original and unique Ironing Board Covers sold in our Sheridan Outlet stores.
Good For our people & animals
From Sydney to Shanghai and everywhere in between, each person we employ is a member of our family. Which is why we’re hugely passionate about:
- Treating employees fairly, and with dignity and respect.
- Supporting fundamental human rights for all people.
- Providing a safe and healthy workplace.
- Valuing diversity.
- Ensuring no child or forced labour is used.
Ethical Fashion Report
At Sheridan, our mission is to see an end to unethical sourcing practises and the exploitation of workers in the homewares industry. Recently, Sheridan and the other brands within the Hanes Australasia Group, were recognised for our commitment to putting the planet and people first by achieving a grade A- in the 2018 Ethical Fashion Report by Baptist World Aid Australia. This is an improvement on last year’s combined score of B+ for Hanes, and A- for our legacy company, Pacific Brands. We also received a special mention for being a leading performer amongst larger retailers for the research we’ve undertaken into our employee’s wage levels and cost of living in our factories.
Feather & Down supply chain
When sourcing feather & down our suppliers must take reasonable steps to ensure that the down and feathers used are a by-product of the food chain. Feather or down obtained by live plucking of birds is not permitted for use in Sheridan products.
Animal Welfare policy
Sheridan is committed to ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare are adhered to in our supply chain. Animal products must be generated, sourced and manufactured using acceptable animal welfare standards. Where animal products are used, we expect our suppliers to treat animals in a humane manner which includes providing appropriate comfort, shelter and freedom from distress or hunger.
Good For our Community
Devoted to the safety of our most precious little customers, we are the first official bed linen partner of Red Nose, priding ourselves on ensuring the safest night’s sleep for your baby. Every sleep product in the Sheridan baby collection has been approved for safe sleeping by Red Nose.
Our Community Program aims to support local communities by hosting Sheridan in-store fundraising events. During these events, we will donate 10% of profits back to the selected charity or cause.

Donations to Myer’s Precious Metal Ball
Each year Myer hosts its Precious Metal Ball to raise donations from their suppliers for their preferred charity. Myer’s charity is currently White Ribbon Australia – a campaign to prevent men’s violence against women. Sheridan is a regular contributor towards the Myer Precious Metal Ball.
For almost 10 years Sheridan has donated used customer returned bed linen and towels to animal shelters and zoos.
GIVIT – Goods for Good Causes
GIVIT is a national not-for-profit connecting those who have with those who need. They aim to alleviate poverty and to help people in times of crisis. Hanes Australasia donates products each year to GIVIT, not only helping bring comfort to those in need, but also helping the environment by staying out of landfill.
